GUIDANCE

In a care home or hospice

What the staff will do, what is left for you to do, and how your loved one is brought into our care.

Care home and hospice staff deal with a death regularly and will guide you calmly through the first hour. They will contact the doctor to verify the death, and most will telephone us on your behalf if you ask them to.

You may stay with your loved one for as long as you wish, and there is no expectation that the room be cleared quickly. We will agree a collection time with you and with the home, and will attend discreetly — usually through a side entrance, out of sight of other residents.
